Madigan Army Medical Center provides general medical center type care, inpatient and outpatient, veterinary care and environmental health services for authorized members of the Armed Forces (primary Fort Lewis and McChord Air Force Base), retired personnel, their family members and other such persons as may be authorized by Congress and the Department of Defense.

MAMC provides environmental health veterinary inspection services to on and off post facilities within the assigned Health Services area. It operates a Histopathology Center, a Blood Bank, Blood Donor Center, and an Audiologic Evaluation and Treatment Clinic. Madigan serves as a regional dialysis center for affiliation with the Army Organ Transplantation Center. It provides emergency surgical treatment to VA beneficiaries and conducts professional and technical training in consonance with the needs of the Army and within the capabilities of the Medical Center.

Madigan provides administrative support to the US Army Dental MEDDAC Commander(s) in the Madigan Army Health Service Region and intermediate level of supervision over, and continuos evaluation of, the delivery and quality of health care provided to eligible beneficiaries throughout the Madigan Army Health Services Region.
